Using a USB memory device means molecular biologists can save time because they can acquire Mac and PC compatible images without having to download files to floppy disk or ZIP drive and is more readily available than compact flash card.
The system's darkroom, which can accommodate any transilluminator, has a corrosion resistant sliding door that automatically turns off the UV when opened.
This safety feature protects users from accidental UV exposure.
The benefit of a universal darkroom combined with not having any computer is that scientists can save money on buying items such as a transilluminator and dedicated laboratory PC.
