Africa is a flow microreactor offering all these benefits in an easy to use, automated system.
"Chemists are already finding that Africa provides them with a faster route to reaction optimisation and compound synthesis" said Richard Gray, commercial director at Syrris.
"With the launch of the pressurisation module, we can now boost reaction rate even further.
"The module allows reactions to take place at elevated pressure, so that they can run at much higher temperature without the solvent boiling.
"Acetonitrile, for example, normally boils at 80C - however with the Africa pressurisation module it can be used safely at 150C, and as reaction rates doubles with each 10C rise in temperature, tenfold speed increases are easily achievable".
The new module, which can easily be integrated into the existing system, improves Africa's versatility in another important way, says the company: the elevated pressure also aids in the dissolution of gases that may be evolved during the course of a reaction, meaning a wider range of chemistries are now accessible.
