Image capture system revolutionises the way in which blood smears can be used to verify diagnosis or validate results in haematology laboratories

The brand new HemaTel system from Sysmex UK revolutionises the way in which blood smears can be used to verify diagnosis or validate results in haematology laboratories Providing easy and rapid image capture when attached to a standard microscope via a video camera, the system produces permanent digital-quality images that can be filed and retrieved to and from a patient database at the click of a button

Traditionally, blood smears have tended to fade over time, making them difficult to interpret when recalled.

The resulting high quality images can be archived, emailed or imported into PowerPoint presentations or Web pages.

On call staff and remote sites can use HemaTel to email images of unclear cases to the reference laboratory or consultant's office, allowing remote diagnostic assistance that saves costs in time, transport and patient referrals.

With the option to colour print reports, the system can archive to large-volume storage media such as re-writable CDs, and provides security with password-protected operator access and a log to record all changes.
