Manchester Central Pathology Laboratories recently played host to VIP visitors from Sysmex Japan, where president and CEO Hisashi Ietsugu presented a plaque to commemorate the 150th HST system installation in Europe Following a guided tour of the laboratory facilities, clinical director Keith Hyde gave a presentation detailing the modernisation process in Manchester's pathology services

Through international benchmarking, what started out as a vision to revolutionise the local laboratories several years ago has now resulted in an impressive, modernised service that sets new standards in UK pathology departments.

The HST (Haematology SysTemisation) system provides an integrated laboratory solution which performs the entire process of CBC, five-part differential, reticulocyte analysis, NRBC, blood film preparation and staining without operator intervention.
