Glasgow green-lights haematology diagnostics

A Sysmex UK product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Sep 12, 2005

Sysmex is the selected primary supplier of all haematology instruments, tests and laboratory automation to all seven hospital sites within the Greater Glasgow Health Board

Sysmex UK has been selected by the Greater Glasgow Health Board (GGHB) as supplier of haematology diagnostic services in the recently awarded laboratory automated diagnostics managed service contract.

The single largest haematology award to date in the UK, it represents a major milestone in Sysmex UK?s continued growth and development.

A key factor in the decision to choose Sysmex was the provision of tailored haematology instrumentation for the wide-ranging workloads of the GGHB laboratories.

The modular design concept is extremely flexible, allowing for unlimited expansion and updating as capacity and/or technology advance.

This is allied with the well-established reliability and superior parameters provided by Sysmex equipment.

Three haematology sample tracking lines (HST302N), seven high-throughput XE-2100 and two XT-2000 automated haematology analysers, four SP1000i slide preparation and staining units, three Starrsed Interrliner, three Starrsed Auto-Compact rack loading ESR readers, and one KX21N small throughput bench top analyser will be supplied and networked across all sites utilising the Sysmex SIS Work Area Manager.

The seven-year agreement enhances Glasgow's hospital services by standardising core laboratory testing platforms.

It brings Sysmex instruments to Yorkhill, Stobhill, Victoria and Gartnavel General Hospitals.

Additionally the Western Infirmary, Southern General Hospital, and Glasgow Royal Infirmary will all have Sysmex sample tracking (HST) solutions to further enhance the consistency, quality and efficiency of diagnostic testing across the GGHB community.
