The MagPrep genomic DNA kit purifies genomic DNA from fresh blood by capturing leukocytes on the surface of silica coated magnetic beads.
After removal of other cell types, the leukocytes are lysed, releasing the genomic DNA that adheres to the beads.
Wash steps further separate the DNA from other cellular components.
The released, soluble DNA is sheared to lengths of approximately 10,000bp.
Using the same MiniPrep and Te-Mag, fragments from 100bp to 10KB can be purified using the MagPrep PCR cleanup kit with typically 90% primer removal.
Reagent use is scalable to 96 samples per run enabling research laboratories to optimise sample volumes, cost and throughput.
