Microplate reader combines leading edge performance and exceptional operational flexibility for absorbance and fluorescence applications, all in one instrument

Available from Tecan (UK), the Safire microplate reader combines leading edge performance and exceptional operational flexibility for absorbance and fluorescence applications, all in one instrument Based upon an advanced optical system, with unique double monochromators, the Safire delivers exceptional performance when making absorbance, fluorescence intensity or time-resolved fluorescence measurements at various wavelengths without the need to change any filters

The Safire not only provides unparalleled freedom to select the best wavelength for your measurement but also allows you to additionally record full range absorbance, excitation and emission spectra.

A unique autofocus feature helps to optimise results by automatically adjusting measurement to cope with different liquid levels in wells or variations in plate height.

In addition user selectable variable bandwidth allows optimisation of instrument sensitivity and resolution.

Reproducibility of results is ensured by excellent temperature uniformity and automatic wavelength calibration.

At a click of a mouse the Safire lets you switch effortlessly between top and bottom reading plate formats providing optimum sensitivity for either homogeneous or cell based assays.

An additional well scanning mode enables correction of uneven cell distribution in any well.

The Safire is able to cope with any microplate format up to 384-well microplates and in fluorescence mode up to 1536-well microplates, adding even more flexibility when developing, running or miniaturising assays.

The Safire is fully robot compatible and has facility to support auxiliary devices including an internal barcode reader, a diode-array detector module and linear/orbital shakers.

Combining high performance and operational functionality the Safire delivers unmatched applications flexibility enabling the characterisation of any fluorophore or coloured substrate in different chemical environments (solvents, pH, buffer) to using multiple labels in one assay.
