Ron Long takes TAP deputy chair

Ron will help leverage TAP's robotic platform technologies including BasePlate for PCR set up, HomeBase for protein crystallisation, and management of DNA libraries for clinical studies.
Ron brings extensive industry knowledge and expertise to TAP.
Most recently, he was vice chairman of the life sciences group at Amersham until he retired in June 2001.
He joined Amersham in August 1990 as commercial director, was then appointed managing director of life sciences in 1996 and became CEO for Amersham Pharmacia Biotech from 1997 until June 2000.
According to TAP's chief executive Richard Archer, "Ron has made an outstanding contribution to the life sciences industry.
His drive and vision will be key to growing TAP's genomics business into a position of global leadership.
Ron's successful experience will be a critical factor in further building TAP's genomics business in both the existing and emerging applications in genomics and high throughput drug discovery." Prior to Amersham, Ron worked for 22 years with the Wellcome Foundation, holding divisional director appointments in Wellcome Biotechnology, Coopers Animal Health, and as group managing director of Calmic International.
Ron currently holds non executive positions in Kudos Pharmaceuticals, Pharmagene, and Gyros.
