Semantic web innovator Dr Eric K Neumann and other industry experts to discuss potentials of semantic web in drug discovery and development

The panel will take place on Tuesday 8 August 2006in Boston, Massachusetts.
Eric Neumann, senior director product strategy, Teranode, and a leading semantic web innovator, will speak on the panel, along with other experts from the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group.
The speakers, including representatives from Agfa, Oracle, Partners Healthcare, Pfizer, and Teranode, will present different perspectives, case studies and best practices on how semantic web technologies are being used today to foster the growth of open, interoperable, policy-aware data and databases in the life sciences and health care industries.
The life sciences industry is driving the adoption of semantic web technologies as it moves to mainstream technology because of its potential to streamline and accelerate drug development.
Aiding decision-making in clinical research, semantic web technologies will bridge many forms of biological and medical information across institutions.
The W3C's Semantic Web Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group is designed to improve collaboration, research and development, and innovation adoption in the health care and life science industries.
Specifically, one of the tasks of the Interest Group will be focusing on are advancements for handling information used in drug safety and efficacy.
Drug Discovery Technology and Development World Congress (DDT) is the industry's premier, international conference and exhibition to provide education on the most vital topics in drug discovery and development to help accelerate products to market.
