In addition to C18 columns, the new phases include C8, CN (cyano), and PFP, and are aimed at scientists in the pharmaceutical industry and others requiring improvements in chromatography

Thermo Electron announces the introduction of additional columns in the Hypersil Gold family, in addition to the C18 columns already available The new phases include C8, CN (cyano), and PFP, a fluorinated chemistry

Ideal for scientists in the pharmaceutical industry and others requiring improvements in chromatography, they offer the outstanding peak shapes obtained with the original Hypersil Gold columns while providing the option for alternative selectivity.

Thermo recently launched the new columns at HPLC Symposium 2005, Stockholm, in June.

Hypersil Gold HPLC and LC/MS columns have gained recognition for providing outstanding peak shape.

Based on highly pure silica, Hypersil Gold columns provide symmetrical peaks, even when analysing basic compounds that give discernibly poor peak shape on traditional reversed phase columns, says Thermo.

Reliable manufacturing processes coupled with advanced bonding technologies produce highly efficient, reliable Hypersil Gold C8, CN and PFP columns.

Hypersil Gold C8 columns offer similar selectivity to the Hypersil Gold C18 columns, but with less retention, increasing the speed of analyses where resolution is not critical.

Hypersil Gold CN columns are packed in reversed phase solvents, but can also be used in normal phase chromatography to offer different selectivity.

The fluorine groups in Hypersil Gold PFP (perfluorophenyl) columns can cause significant changes in the solute-stationary phase interactions offering the potential for highly selective analyses of chlorinated and fluorinated compounds.

These columns are ideal for the separation of complex taxane samples, as well as compounds containing hydroxyl, carboxyl, nitro and other polar groups, especially when these groups are located on an aromatic or other rigid ring system.

Hypersil Gold C8, CN and PFP columns are available in a 5um particle size, and in a range of analytical geometries from 20mm to 250mm length, and 2.1 to 4.6mm ID.

Matched guard cartridges and other column dimensions including capillary and preparative are also available upon request.
