Checkitdirect COD vario allows wastewater analysis

Tintometer has released the Lovibond Checkitdirect COD index (ST-COD) for wastewater testing.

The chemical oxygen demand, ST-COD value, of wastewater as determined by the dichromatic method can be considered as an estimate of the theoretical oxygen demand, meaning the amount of oxygen consumed in total chemical oxidation of the organic constituents present in the water.

The Checkitdirect COD vario is an instrument that allows sensitive and precise wastewater testing of this value.

The COD (chemical oxygen demand) is measured by photometric detection employing a linear relationship between absorbance and concentration.

After adding the water sample to one of the Lovibond ST-COD pre-prepared sealed tubes (LR, MR according to ISO 15705:2003-01), it is heated in a Lovibond reactor and then simply analysed in the Checkitdirect COD vario photometer.

The COD-setup comprises the Checkitdirect COD vario photometer, 25 tube tests for each of the two lower measuring ranges, a reactor for sample digestion, and a vial stand.

The measuring range is from 0 to 15,000mg/l O, suitable for all wastewater testing.

The Lovibond COD vario tube tests are available for the measuring ranges 0-150mg/l O2, 0-1500mg/l O2 and 0-15000mg/l O2.

Their chemical properties and a 16mm tube diameter means they are suitable for use with Hach photometers.

Features include a water-proof sample chamber, easy handling, a user interface in German, English, French, Spanish and Italian, and a large digital display.

The instrument is supplied with four batteries, Lovibond reactor ET 108, and carrying case with water-resistant foam.
