Müller adopts Nautilus LIMS at its Quality Control
Thermo LabSystems has announced that Molkerei Alois Müller (UK), a market leader in European dairy products, has selected Nautilus LIMS for its Market Drayton laboratory
Molkerei Alois Müller (UK), part of the Müller Group, has selected Nautilus LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) for implementation in its laboratory at Market Drayton, UK.
Müller will use Nautilus to manage quality control data for raw materials, in process and for finished dairy desserts.
Thermo LabSystems received the order for Nautilus after Müller had looked at a number of LIMS over a period of six months.
"Müller selected Nautilus on account of its outstanding flexibility and its ability to map easily to our own business processes via its Workflow functionality," commented laboratory manager Rebecca Goodall.
She continued,"we are also confident about Nautilus' ease of implementation and, because of this, have decided to implement and configure the solution without any significant help from Thermo LabSystems".
Müller has set a target go-live date of August 1 2001, which coincides with the opening of its second production facility at the Market Drayton site.
"Currently we have only paper systems in the UK", revealed Goodall, "but with the increase in production from 1 billion to up to 2 billion pots per year, we need to make the laboratory run as efficiently as possible.
Implementation of Nautilus will reduce the amount of paperwork and speed up testing.
We plan to integrate the system with as many pieces of lab equipment as possible, including state-of-the-art technology such as the Chemunex D-Count microbiology analyser.
Equipment such as the D-Count has saved us so much time, but by integrating it with Nautilus it will make us even more efficient." Nautilus is expected to assist significantly in real-time monitoring of Müller's production processes and play a pivotal role in ensuring quality control for finished product.
Currently Müller acquires huge volumes of data which aren't utilised to the full.
By using Nautilus, Müller will be able to trend all data and make necessary improvements.
Müller is the largest independent yoghurt manufacturer in the UK with over 30% market share.
The Market Drayton factory processes approximately 165 million litres of milk annually.
Nautilus is Thermo LabSystems' latest LIMS, focused on improving laboratory productivity and reducing the cost of ownership of LIMS to customers.
With radically reduced implementation times and patent pending technology minimising the need for customisation, Nautilus is delivering a return on investment to many customers in fields such as biotechnology, pharmaceutical R&D, food and beverage, and environmental services.
