Thermo LabSystems has published a free four-page application story about its Atlas CDS at the microchemistry laboratory of Forensic Science Northern Ireland

Thermo LabSystems announces the availability of a new full-colour printed case study on the implementation and operation of its Chromatography Data System, Atlas, in the microchemistry laboratory of Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI) at Belfast.

FSNI plays a major role in countering the prolonged terrorist campaign in the province and Atlas helps the laboratory provide a more comprehensive analytical service.

Over four pages, the free-of-charge case study describes the services of FSNI, its methods and technologies, the legal issues and the use and benefits of Atlas.

It describes how Atlas provides a means of enabling screening for trace amounts of residues from firearms and explosives and how Atlas assists in detecting possible contamination of samples.

Atlas is attached to (and controls) FSNI's two GCs, managing a typical case load per annum of approximately 650 workbooks and 19,500 chromatograms.

Atlas is a 32-Bit Chromatography Data System focused on delivering laboratory productivity by adapting to laboratory workflow and offering improved ease of use.

Its development has benefited from a Joint Application Development programme involving leading chromatographers from around the world, to ensure Atlas works the way users demand.

In the most recent SDI report on the CDS market, Atlas was rated highest for compatibility with network, ease of learning, user configurability and customisability, upgradeability, and ease of installation and set up.

The report also rated Atlas number one CDS in the pharmaceutical industry.
