New brochure on data archival solution provides overview of the system's functionality for data storage, searching and retrieval of instrument data, reports and documents

Thermo Electron announces the availability of a new brochure focused on its laboratory informatics solutions, eRecordManager.

The eight-page brochure provides readers with a comprehensive overview of the system's functionality for data storage, searching and retrieval of instrument data, reports and documents, together with an outline of its underlying technology.

The system was developed for deployment in data-intensive laboratories in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemical/petrochemicals, and food and beverage.

Thermo's informatics business was, until March 2003, doing business separately as Thermo LabSystems and Thermo Galactic.

Launched in 2002, eRecordManager helps customers to capture, store and index large volumes of laboratory data and associated information, while also converting the content of these records for storage as GAML (generalised analytical markup language) files based on XML (extensible markup language) format.

The brochure explains eRecordManager's uniqueness in terms of its ability to retrieve and display any specific spectra or chromatographic data file at a point in the future, without the requirement for the original software, operating system and hardware.

The brochure explains how this capability effectively future-proofs a customer's data and renders it available for review and manipulation, subject to the appropriate operator authority levels and security controls.

The brochure also describes how the system enables genuine knowledge management and eases project collaboration on a multi-site and global basis.

eRecordManager was officially launched at Pittcon 2002, where it became the first software solution to win the coveted Pittcon Editors' Gold Award for best new product.

The brochure, which is illustrated by a series of screen captures, is available free-of-charge worldwide to organizations that are assessing their long-term analytical data archival and knowledge management requirements.
