Rietveld-based clinker phase software
for cement
ARL Clinker Quant has been developed to meet the evolving analytical requirements of the cement industry for quantification of all four clinker phases, simply and efficiently using only one instrument
Thermo Electron introduces the ARL Clinker Quant, a new pre-calibration software package designed for use with Thermo's ARL 9900 total cement analysers There is an increasing demand for quantitative clinker phase analysis ie C3S, C2S, C3A and C4AF to provide a more comprehensive process and quality control

World's smallest ICP-MS
Thermo Elemental has designed the new benchtop X-Series ICP-MS, said to be the smallest in the world, with reliability and ease of use foremost in mind
Because it is difficult to obtain certified or standard materials representative of the specific production site for clinker phases, conventional quantitative methods cannot be used.
With Thermo's development of Rietveld-based methods for a standard-less phase analysis based on an X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the clinker sample, it is now possible to quantify the main phases in addition to free lime and the usual total oxide analysis.
Adhering to the latest technological innovations, the XRD intensities measured using Thermo's ARL total cement analysers are processed through the ARL Clinker Quant.
The software package quantifies alite, belite, aluminate and ferrite phases easily and cost-effectively.
The accuracies depend on the sample homogeneity, representation of the process, and Rietveld intrinsic errors.
Developed to meet the increasing demand for high precision and reliability of chemical and phase analysis in the cement industry, Thermo's ARL 9900 combines the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) technologies in just one instrument.
With this integrated XRF-XRD technology, a solid sample is analysed with one analytical program and a comprehensive report of both chemical and phase analysis is generated for process and quality control in industrial applications.
