A turn-key system, the HCS WorkCell optimises vertical integration to deliver compact but powerful automation that is easy to relocate and frees up valuable lab floor space

Thermo Electron has unveiled the HCS WorkCell, a new high-content screening (HCS) system that combines a small footprint with state-of-the art software As a complete, dedicated system the HCS WorkCell meets and surpasses the needs of cell-based analysis for applications such as stem cell research, cell health, and sRNAi technology, says Thermo

The included instrumentation and software enable complete sample preparation and scheduled analysis with maximum flexibility.

The speed and dexterity of the HCS WorkCell, combined with the vertical integration, yield maximum throughput compared to traditional automation.

Incorporating web services capabilities, the HCS WorkCell also allows for easy configuration for sample tracking and data export to Lims.

The HCS WorkCell can be utilised with Thermo's Orchestrator software, offering a powerful workflow optimisation tool that can significantly improve laboratory operations.

Orchestrator is unique software with the added ability to connect the flow of information from automation scheduling software to a Lims database.

This enables researchers to gather, analyse and use essential data more effectively.

Versatile and easy-to-use the Orchestrator software is available through Thermo for use on its WorkCell platforms.

The new HCS WorkCell will be showcased at Thermo's booth at the Association for Laboratory Automation's (ALA) LabAutomation2006 event, 21-26 January 2006 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, Palm Springs, CA.
