Rapid, accurate protein identification
Software covers proteomics applications from top-down analysis to bottom-up sequencing, and from high-throughput protein identification to automated protein quantification and biomarker discovery.
Thermo Electron introduces its Proteomics suite, covering a breadth of proteomics applications from top-down analysis to bottom-up sequencing, and from high-throughput protein identification to automated protein quantification and biomarker discovery The Proteomics suite will be exhibited at the Thermo booth at the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) Annual Meeting 2005 to be held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center in Savannah, Georgia, 5-8 February 2005

Proteomics allows researchers to achieve rapid, accurate protein identification, characterisation, and quantification.
The Proteomics suite of includes a highly effective strategy for the identification and validation of protein biomarkers that may indicate the presence of a specific disease.
At the core of Proteomics are three of the most advanced Thermo mass spectrometers - the Finnigan LTQ for ultra-high sensitivity and extraordinary protein identification, the Finnigan LTQ FT hybrid mass spectrometer for high-resolution and accurate mass determination of proteins and their modifications, and the Finnigan vMaldi LTQ for automated high-throughput gel spot analysis.
Thermo has also announced the addition of two further products, Sequest Sorcerer and ProSight P.
Sequest Sorcerer is said to accelerate protein database searching up to 50-fold so that search times are greatly reduced and researchers get their results fast.
ProSight P is a dedicated software package for top-down protein sequencing.
Combining this with the Finnigan LTQ FT creates what Thermo says is the perfect solution for top-down analysis of proteins.
