Said to be the first totally new mass analyser to be introduced in over 20 years, it enables faster, more sensitive and more reliable detection and identification of compounds in complex mixtures

Thermo Electron introduces the LTQ Orbitrap, a hybrid mass spectrometer which it says offers superior performance for small molecule research, drug discovery, proteomics, metabolite identification, and metabolomics The LTQ Orbitrap represents the first totally new mass analyser to be introduced to the market in over 20 years

Combining patented Orbitrap technology with the highly successful Finnigan LTQ front-end, the LTQ Orbitrap enables faster, more sensitive and more reliable detection and identification of compounds in complex mixtures.

Results demonstrate that its outstanding mass accuracy, mass resolution and routine, high-sensitivity MSn performance make it a clear alternative to existing hybrid time-of-flight systems.
