Thermo Fisher has appointed a designated team to work with Organon, including a project manager who will oversee each stage of the project

Thermo Fisher Scientific has established a deal to provide its asset management services to Organon's research facility at Newhouse, Scotland As part of the contract, Thermo Fisher will supply simplified, cost-effective, one stop service delivery solutions to the Organon site, a pharmaceutical drug discovery facility

The new project aims to simplify on-site maintenance and service contracts while saving time and money for Organon.

With approximately 300 scientific staff members at the Scotland site, Organon's service requirements are growing at a fast pace.

Thermo Fisher's European asset management services team is working with Organon to roll out a site implementation plan, streamlining the various methods used to deal with on-site maintenance as well as consolidating external service contracts.

Beginning with a full inventory of Organon's instruments and inputting all information into an internal database, the team has been working closely with Organon staff to document the company's site inventory and to determine the necessary range of services.

Each project is treated individually, and the maintenance solutions could involve Thermo Fisher taking over the management of all aspects of maintenance, keeping the existing maintenance contracts or a mix of the two approaches.

The objective is to reduce the administrative workload from Organon's scientists, allowing them to focus on science instead of managing service suppliers.

Carolina Schwegler, operations director for Europe, asset management services for Thermo Fisher Scientific, comments, "Organon is already seeing great results since implementing our programme".

"The tailored programme and processes that our European team has put in place along with the ongoing dialogue with the Organon team has resulted in better information to help them measure their true service needs and the type of ongoing support required".

Ron MacKenzie, procurement director for Organon, adds, "Organon's levels of service remain high, as before, but with Thermo Fisher managing the service delivery contracts, new processes have been put in place to manage interaction with both instrument manufacturers and end-users, saving Organon both time and money".

The European asset management services team is headquartered in the UK, providing close support to its European customers and comprises service experts in the life and laboratory markets as well as government agencies.
