Sample processing at a higher level
Fully automated store-to-plate processing system is capable of handling over 10,000 cherry-picked microtubes a day without operator intervention
TTP LabTech announces the launch of Compiler, an automated store-to-plate processing system capable of handling over 10,000 microtubes a day without operator intervention The first unit has been successfully installed and commissioned at Wyeth's Pearl River facility in New York

Compiler is the complementary sister product to TTP LabTech's scaleable microtube storage system, Compound, which delivers cherry picked samples to Compiler.
On receiving the cherry-picked microtubes, Compiler rapidly assembles them into racks for thawing, centrifuging, decapping and gas flushing before presenting them to a third party liquid handling system.
As soon as processing is complete, Compiler regasses, recaps and returns the microtubes to the Compound store, ensuring that samples are out of cold storage for the minimum amount of time, thereby minimising any possible sample degradation.
Compiler is capable of supporting up to 12 Compound stores, allowing rapid access to a library of up to 1.2 million samples.
Full data and transaction tracking of all operations is performed within the system and all data is sent to the company's sample database.
"As compound libraries continue to expand, the need for fast, efficient and scaleable storage and delivery systems become paramount for today's HTS and uHTS requirements" explained Jas Sanghera, TTP LabTech's commercial director.
"By linking Compiler to our Compound modules, companies have a fully automated compound management system with cherry-picking capability and the flexibility to grow according to their needs".
Dr Sanghera continued "Crucially, as Compiler automates the whole process - store to plate and back - no operator intervention is required and so more than 10,000 tubes can be processed every day providing the throughput demanded by pharma and biotech companies".
Compiler and Compound make a self-contained system that does not require special laboratory conditions or bespoke storage facilities.
With its compact, L-shaped footprint Compiler can be located in almost any laboratory, offering maximum productivity with minimum overheads.
