First review of the UK Analytical
Partnership
UKAP, launched in 2000, has been found to be making a significant contribution to the future of analytical science in the UK by its three founding alphabet organisations: LGC, DTI, and RSC
The first review of the UK Analytical Partnership (UKAP) since its launch on 3 July 2000 is published in UKAP Update (Winter 2002) by its principal partners - LGC, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Brian Harrison of Johnson Matthey, who leads UKAP, said: "UKAP is making a significant contribution to the future of analytical science in the UK by building networks, benchmarking the UK's position, and brokering initiatives in research, training, education, and compliance

We are currently seeking input to our ongoing regulatory assessments of those industries with a high dependence on analytical science.

I would urge anyone interested in better regulation to read their sector's report and feed back comments to UKAP.
We want to encourage as wide a consultation as possible about the process for regulatory decision-making in the UK." Richard Worswick, CEO of LGC, commented: "LGC values the relationship with DTI, RSC and others cemented through UKAP.
In its first year, UKAP has brought together diverse views in analytical science, for example initiating Insight - a Faraday Partnership proposal on high throughput screening.
I look forward to UKAP's second year in which it will forge more links.
Not least will be those made with industry through the UKAP forum - Analysis: Changing the face of UK industry - in April 2002".
David Giachardi, CEO of the RSC, added: "The RSC commends the way in which UKAP and the RSC's Analytical Division have collaborated since its launch to pool ideas and avoid duplication.
A joint UKAP/AD event is planned for the RSC's Education Forum on 3 July 2002 at Huddersfield University.
UKAP also played a key role in brokering the RSC/EPSRC Research Professorships in Analytical Science announced last year.".
