Ultrasonic Scientific introduces a new technique, which quickly and simply solves most problems commonly associated with characterisation of microstructure and stability of emulsions and suspensions This technique is based on precision measurements of parameters of high-frequency sound waves propagating through analysed samples

The HR-US 102 series of high-resolution ultrasonic spectrometers overcomes many of the limitations of traditional techniques (rheology, light scattering, turbidity, DSC and others) and analytical problems commonly encountered The HR-US technique can directly and non-destructively follow the microstructural transformations in colloids precluding destabilisation.

It can also measure the exact point of destabilisation, changes and ability to recover thereby removing possible human error from collected qualitative information.

HR-US spectroscopy allows assessment of stability over time and temperature and effect of different compounds on the stability of emulsions and suspensions.

It can analyse small samples (typically 1ml, lower and higher volume of sample compartments available) and measurements can be taken, in the original samples, without dilutions, which are commonly required when using optical techniques.

Measurements in flow are also possible.

The HR-US series of ultrasonic spectrometers can be used for analysis of structure and stability of emulsions and suspensions in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food/drink, personal care, cosmetics and other industries.

Other applications include analysis of chemical reactions, conformational transitions in polymers and biopolymers, aggregation and gelation phenomena, particle sizing, phase transitions, formation of micelles and CMC measurements, ligand binding, and composition analysis.
