Relative viscometer provides faster
analysis
The Model Y501C relative viscometer from Viscotek Europe is ideally suited for measuring dilute polymer viscosities.
The Model Y501C relative viscometer from Viscotek Europe is ideally suited for measuring dilute polymer viscosities It provides faster analysis (typically 2-4 minutes) and greater precision than is possible with the traditional Ubbelohde or Cannon-Fenske glass tube viscometers that it replaces

The Y501C is routinely able to deliver 50% solvent savings compared to traditional methods and operating with a closed loop system provides for greater operator health and safety.
Solution viscosities are determined by the viscosity of the sample relative to the refrence solvent.
The Y501C uniquely provides direct simultaneous measurement of solvent and sample viscosity therefore eliminating errors that can arise due to temperature fluctuation and solvent variations.
From the measured relative viscosity it is possible to calculate important polymer production QA/QC parameters including molecular weight, specific viscosity, inherent viscosity, reduced viscosity, intrinsic viscosity and absolute viscosity.
Fully compliant with ASTM method D5225-92 (Solution Viscometry of Polymers) the Y501C offers three levels of automation to suit both budget and sample throughput requirement.
Stand-alone the Y501C has many automated features to aid ease of use and speed of analysis.
For higher throughput polymer production QA/QC environments the addition of a software integrated autosampler/robot station has been demonstrated to provide greatest productivity and 24 hour a day unattended operation.
The intuitive Windows based WIN-ETA software controls the system and calculates relative, inherent, reduced and intrinsic viscosity.
The Y501C is proven for the analysis of polymers including PET, PVC, EPDM, PVA, PVOH, polybutadiene, polyolefins, cellulosics and nylon. Request a free brochure from Viscotek Europe ...
