Warnex receives funding for DNA database project

A Warnex product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Dec 15, 2009

Warnex Pro-DNA Services has received funding for the development of a forensics database, based on mitochrondrial DNA, in collaboration with the Paleo-DNA Laboratory of Lakehead University.

The funding was received from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

Warnex Pro-DNA Services and the Paleo-DNA Laboratory of Lakehead University are said to be the only two laboratories accredited in Canada for mitochondrial DNA testing.

With this funding, they will develop the Mitonorth Database, which will be used by law enforcement and legal professionals to prevent individuals from being falsely accused and help prosecute criminals.
