Multimodal standard tackles resolution challenges

A Whitehouse Scientific product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Apr 1, 2009

Whitehouse Scientific is to launch a new multimodal standard at Achema 2009 designed to address the challenges in quantifying resolutions offered by instruments.

As particle sizing methodologies grow more sophisticated, it is becoming increasingly difficult to measure the degree of resolution offered by the latest instruments.

Image analysis methods, for example, offer one of the highest resolutions available, but it has been difficult to quantify the resolution.

In Whitehouse Scientific's standard, eight distinct peaks have been produced between 500 and 2,000 microns.

For very small particle sizes, a multimodal standard with 10 peaks between 0.1 and 1.5 microns has been prepared for evaluation.
