WPA has launched the Biowave CO8000 cell density meter This handheld portable instrument is designed for use in life science and biotechnology labs as a dedicated instrument for measuring of the density of cells in suspension

The CO8000 solves the problem of being in the right place at the right time: harvesting cells is time critical for protein expression, and with cells often cultured some distance from the main lab testing for this becomes an issue.

The CO8000 is a portable instrument, allowing the optical density of the culture to be measured next to the incubator for maximum convenience and accuracy.

Up to 99 test results can be stored in the memory and then downloaded to a printer or PC for inclusion in lab books and further analysis.

The Biowave cell density meter can be powered by mains electricity or by batteries, and is lightweight and simple to use.

This low maintenance instrument uses an indefinite life LED and no filters.

The CO8000 accepts a variety of cuvettes and tubes including 10, 12 and 16nm diameter test tubes, and with no warm up time, the user just switches it on and it's ready to use.

The results from the CO8000 are directly comparable to those obtained using a traditional spectrophotometer but at a fraction of the price, making it a winner in the lab for convenience and value for money.
