Yokogawa wins approval for pH instrumentation

A Yokogawa product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Sep 7, 2001

Yokogawa UK has been approved as one of the preferred suppliers of pH and dissolved oxygen measurement instrumentation to United Utilities

Yokogawa's pH equipment was selected by United Utilities for preferred status after extensive and rigorous testing in a water-treatment environment.

A key criterion in Yokogawa's favour was the products' reliability, leading to low total cost of ownership and increased intervals between routine maintenance visits.

The dissolved oxygen equipment was primarily selected for the low cost of ownership that can be realised by increasing the routine maintenance interval.

Another important consideration is the availability of a valid signal, normally expressed as the percentage of time the instrument produces a signal that can be used by the monitoring and recording equipment.

The Yokogawa units have a built-in alarm facility which automatically indicates when a valid signal is not available, thereby reducing the need for dual or triple validation.

United Utilities, the multi-utility provider which operates across the north-west of England, has a substantial five-year investment programme which will include the application of pH and dissolved oxygen instruments for monitoring the treatment of both potable and waste water.
