Engine combustion analysis for DSOs
An engine combustion analysis package for use with Yokogawa's digital oscilloscopes and data-acquisition systems is now available from Yokogawa Martron.
An engine combustion analysis package for use with Yokogawa's digital oscilloscopes and data-acquisition systems is now available from Yokogawa Martron The new software package enables engine combustion pressures to be analysed for engines using a variety of fuels, with versions available for both gasoline and natural-gas engines

The MV100 MobileCorder from Yokogawa Martron is a compact portable data logger equipped with a large colour screen for the instant readout and monitoring of online data
The natural-gas analysis package can be used to analyse specific heat ratio and polytrol index.
In operation, input signals representing parameters such as cylinder and crank angle, combined with a TDC (top dead centre) signal, are captured by the data-acquisition system.
The software will work with both 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines, and the user can select the absolute pressure correction method (averaging or cycle-by-cycle).
Typical displays show a graph of cylinder pressure versus crank angle or cylinder pressure versus piston displacement, plus a 3-dimensional display showing variations over time.
TDC is calculated from the monitored data, and is corrected automatically, with the provision that this correction can be overridden by a manually entered correction value.
Combustion pressure analysis and calculation results can be saved as text files, and selected calculated parameters can be displayed in graphical form.
Cylinder pressure analysis relative to crank angle can be displayed with up to 720 results, and transient analysis is displayed relative to the number of cycles.
The combustion analysis software is particularly suited to use with the Yokogawa DL708 (8-channel) and DL716 (16-channel) waveform recorders and the WE7000 PC-based data-acquisition system.
